Soft Bond segments were designed to expose fresh diamond cutting edges more frequently than other bond types. This bond was designed for hard concretes such as those containing granite, quartz, and river stone.
 
Medium Bond is a good all-purpose bond that balances cutting speed and tool life. This bond is suggested in most cases, it is good for medium concretes such as those containing pit gravel or crushed gravel.
 
Hard Bond segments should be used for soft concretes such as those containing limestone, sandstone, or dolomite.
